For this month of June we will be crafting a special ward known as a “witch’s bottle.” A witch’s bottle was and still is a great way to protect yourself, household, and home from any malicious activity or unwanted energies from coming around. To make it you’ll need the following items, if some cannot be obtained then either omit or substitute them with the many options:
A good sized bottle (the size largely depends on what you want to put in it)
Nails
Pins
Broken glass
Thorns
Vinegar
Salt (or black salt)
Dirt from your yard
Protective crystals (obsidian, tourmaline, fire agate)
Protective herbs (mint, betony, dragon’s blood, mugwort, bay leaves)
Protection oils (fiery wall, cast away evil, run devil run)
A black chime candle
To start go ahead and place all your items one at a time inside of the jar, adding the liquids last, and once everything is in the jar go ahead and twist the lid on shut. Now get your black chime and anoint it with some of the oil you chose, seal the edges of the lid with its hot dripping wax. As you do repeat out loud or within the mind the protection you will receive from this spell, a small little chant that goes along the lines of this:
If good forces be coming, then let them stay
If unwanted forces be afoot, then let them find (name of an object from the jar) in their way
Let them find (another object) in their way
Let them find (another object) in their way
Continue with the other objects in the bottle until you’ve reached the end, then as it finalizes say the following:
By the power within, the might around, and the forces of above, betwixt, and below- so shall it be.
Knock on the bottle three times. Now with the item sealed up you can place the remaining chime on top to fully burn down the intention into the jar (keep an eye on anything fire related folks!). Later on your jar will be finished and to activate it you could shake it whenever you want to boost the safety of your home and loved ones, and when not in use keep it somewhere hidden near a door or window.
