Free spell for September: Apple Imps

A historic example of the magick that lays before you~
A historic example of the magick that lays before you~

As the wheel of the year turns we find ourselves at a point of the year that is equal in light and dark, life and death, and fair and foul. However sometimes it may feel as if our lives are out of balance, perhaps due to internal toils or in some cases external ones. So for this spell of the month we'll explore the creation of a special spiritual alley to use the tricks being sent to you right back at the sender!

To begin you'll want to gather the following:

A good sized apple, preferable a crab apple as they tend to be more sour (i.e. more wicked!)

A sharp knife

Two large thorns

A piece of paper and pen

Two shorten skewer sticks

Red string

Some boneset, devil's shoestring, and blackberry leaves

Get your apple and hollow it out while saving the top as you would with a jack-o-lantern. Carve upon it a face, preferably one with a devilish grimance, to show its trickster nature and fill the cavity with your herbs. Pack them in and top it, sealing it with your wax from the candle. Go ahead and stick your two thorns upon each brow of the imp to give it a set of horns.

Stick your skewer stick into the flesh of the apple to hold it upright and use your string to tie the other skewer near the base of the head, forming a set of arms. Then with your parchment paper go ahead and write upon what you wish to reflect and reverse away, whether it be the evil eye, haters, or simply those sending you ill intentions. Afterwards fold the paper away from you until it has become nice and packed, and then tie it around the heart area of the poppet.

Hold your imp within your hands and speak out loud this incantation:

"Crab of the hedge and sour of tongue,

By thorn and seed your spell is spun.

What is cast, you turn awry,

What is spoken, sour the lie.

As day and night in balance fall,

So twist the trick, reverse it all.

By root, by branch, by orchard’s kin,

Let cunning turn, let craft begin."

Place this little imp on your altar, fireplace, or even near your doorways to keep away and ward off these negative influences. As the apple rots and dries, so shall the issue also fade away.
